We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Purchasing
Agent to join our team. This role demands strong initiative,
exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to quickly learn
and adapt. The ideal candidate will excel in building and
maintaining relationships across all levels of the organization and
with external partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Material Procurement: Oversee the procurement of materials
essential for production, ensuring timely and cost-effective
acquisitions.
- Purchase Order Management: Create, manage, and expedite purchase
orders, ensuring all transactions are verified and authorized
before orders are placed.
- Supply Chain Coordination: Monitor purchase orders, proactively
addressing any material issues or shipment delays, and promptly
communicating with the supply chain planning team to ensure smooth
operations.
- Vendor Relationship Management: Establish and maintain strong,
ongoing relationships with vendors and suppliers, ensuring high
levels of communication and service.
- Inventory Control: Maintain inventory levels in alignment with
targeted goals, supporting production demands and minimizing excess
stock.
- Cost Reduction Initiatives: Lead efforts to reduce total cost of
ownership, identifying and implementing best practices for cost
savings and operational efficiency.
- Supplier Negotiations: Support and manage negotiations with
suppliers, including the integration of new suppliers into our
operations.
- Product Sourcing: Assist in sourcing new products as requested by
the Purchasing Manager or sales personnel, ensuring alignment with
company needs and market trends.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Regularly communicate with
Engineering and Production teams to stay informed of project
requirements and anticipate future needs.
- ERP System Management: Currently, procurement processes are
managed through SAGE ERP and Excel. As we transition to fully
utilizing SAGE for MRP, you will play a key role in setting up and
optimizing the ERP system.
Qualifications:
- Strong communication and computer skills.
- Proven purchasing experience, ideally within the bus or
automotive industry.
- Familiarity with vendor/supplier product knowledge.
- Experience with SAGE ERP or similar systems , with a strong
understanding of MRP processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a
fast-paced environment.
