Tech)\nJob Summary:\nA Surgical Technologist, also known as a Surg
Tech or Operating Room Technician, is a key member of the surgical
team who assists in preparing for and facilitating surgeries. They
ensure that the operating room is sterile, organized, and equipped
with the necessary instruments and supplies. Surg Techs play a
critical role in patient safety by maintaining aseptic techniques
and supporting the surgical team during procedures.\n\nKey
Responsibilities:\n\n
- \nPreoperative Preparation:\n
- \n
- Set up the operating room with surgical instruments, sterile
drapes, and other necessary supplies.\n
- Ensure proper functioning of surgical equipment and
instruments.\n
- Verify and maintain the sterile field to meet safety
standards.\n
- Prepare patients for surgery by cleaning and disinfecting
incision sites and positioning them on the operating
table.\n\n\n
- \nIntraoperative Assistance:\n

- Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons and other team
members during procedures.\n
- Anticipate the surgeon's needs to ensure a smooth
workflow.\n
- Manage specimens for laboratory analysis following proper
protocols.\n
- Assist with retracting tissue, applying suction, or cutting
sutures as directed.\n\n\n
- \nPostoperative Duties:\n
- \n
- Clean and restock the operating room after procedures.\n
- Ensure proper disposal of biohazard materials and
sharps.\n
- Maintain and sterilize surgical instruments and
equipment.\n
- Assist in transferring patients to recovery areas.\n\n\n
- \nCollaboration and Communication:\n
- \n
- Work closely with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists to
ensure efficient and safe operations.\n
- Communicate effectively with team members to address any
concerns or equipment needs during surgery.\n\n\n
- \nSafety and Compliance:\n
- \n
- Adhere to strict aseptic and infection-control
techniques.\n
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and
safety regulations.\n
- Participate in ongoing training and education to stay updated
on advancements in surgical techniques and
technology.\n\n\n\n\nQualifications:\n

- Education: Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology
program or equivalent training.\n
- Certifications:\n

- Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) from
the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting
(NBSTSA) is often preferred or required.\n
