Job Description:
The Trust Advisor is responsible for managing established trust, estate, retirement, and investment accounts. This position plays a vital role in ensuring excellent client service while performing complex trust administration and advisory functions within the Nixon Peabody Trust Company. The Trust Advisor collaborates with attorneys, portfolio managers, tax professionals, and firm Partners to ensure all needs are met in a professional and timely manner. A hybrid work schedule is available for this position.

  • Work closely with trustees and/or responsible attorneys assisting in the decision-making process.
  • Manage complex and moderate accounts.
  • Manage direct report by effectively communicating, delegating, overseeing, and mentoring.
  • Coordinate with the team, in-house portfolio managers, tax professionals and trust operation specialists who all share in the servicing of client relationships.
  • Ensure that each assigned account is administered in accordance with their document terms; conduct initial and ongoing reviews of accounts in accordance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Establish new accounts on the trust accounting system.
  • Identify and manage compliance and fiduciary risk management issues; implement policies and procedures within compliance and departmental guidelines.
  • Promptly address all questions arising from clients, trustees, co-trustees and beneficiaries, as well as internal departments regarding the administration and fiduciary activities of assigned accounts.
  • Responsible for duties and tasks as they relate to the Bank Secrecy Act, (BSA), the Anti-Money Laundering Act (AML) and the Office of Foreign Assets Control Regulations (OFAC).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Job Requirements:

    • 3 - 5 years of wealth management, trust administration and relationship management experience. Prior experience working on trust accounting and/or financial reporting systems (i.e., FiTek - GWES) a plus.
    • Certified Trust and Fiduciary Advisor (CTFA) designation preferred.
    • Bachelor's Degree preferred. Work experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
    • Understand the fundamentals of wealth management and trust administration.
    • Thorough understanding of principal and income accounting and the fiduciary practice as a whole.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Confidently assess and make recommendations to partners and internal stakeholders.
    • Ability to adapt to various personalities and working styles, oversee and delegate tasks to direct report.
    • Work collaboratively within a proactive team-oriented environment.
    • Handle performance management staff member.
    • Displayed organizational, and administrative skills with meticulous attention to detail.
    • Effectively manage multiple ongoing projects, coordinates processes, and successfully prioritizes multiple tasks with good judgment.
    • Solve problems and display analytical skills.
    • Display a proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel and Outlook).

      In accordance with applicable Federal and State laws, the anticipated annual salary range for this position, depending on location, is as follows:

      • Boston, MA: $121,749 to $180,749

        In addition to a standard benefits package, this role may be eligible for additional contingent compensation based on an array of factors, including but not limited to: work performance, geographic location, work experience, education, and qualifications. Because such contingent compensation is not yet calculable or may be zero ($0) in some circumstances, the above-listed salary range(s) are Nixon Peabody's good faith estimate of the annual salary(ies) it reasonably expects to pay for the position at the time of this posting.
