Mobile Retail Systems Architect



The Mobile Retail Systems Architect provides technical leadership for mobile technologies and supports new business initiatives. This role will drive mobile and web technology roadmap, define application architecture, establish and maintain technology standards, evaluate new technologies, and drive mobile innovation.



Responsibilities:


Deliver points of view on key mobile industry topics. Be seen as a subject matter expert in these technology areas.


Define, document, and execute on mobile\web best practices and industry standards.


Mentors and grows the technology team within web and mobile technologies.


Regularly interface with IT partners (including the Infrastructure and Marketing IT teams), and Vendors to manage delivery of projects and ensure mobile\web technologies meet business needs.


Execute business strategy by providing representation on cross-functional teams supporting current and future initiatives.


Be versed in industry trends for the web and mobile space as well as the quick service restaurant industry trends specific to these areas.


Track and understand the implications of new developments in key areas such as Apple and Android operating systems, restaurant websites and mobile apps, and overall technology hardware PCs, tablets, phones, etc.


Negotiate Vendor contracts in the best interest of the company and its Franchisees with clear and quantifiable service levels, clear monitoring and reporting requirements, and with vendor penalties for non-performance.


Ensure all design and development activities across these platforms adhere to all industry best practices and regulations related to data security.


Assists the Department Manager with development of department goals, budgets and measurement of their results.


Able to effectively lead teams of people from a variety of functional areas to reach common project goals.


Works with the Product Managers to translate the business requirements to a sound technical architecture/approach. Oversees the execution of the technical strategy once the clients’ approval is obtained.


Participate in the initiation and planning phases by gathering technical requirements and providing input on project activities and timing.


Report project status to Project Lead as appropriate.


Ensure project deliverables are completed with quality, in a timely manner and within approved budgets.



Participate in the evaluation of the project by giving input for post-project hindsight.


Education/Experience:


Bachelor s Degree with concentration in IT or business.


Minimum of 7 years of progressive, relevant IT experience.


Minimum of 5 years of development, system design and implementation experience


Mobile Platforms (iOS, Android, Windows, etc.).


Mobile Frameworks (PhoneGap, Appcelerator, etc.).


Familiarity with all aspects of mobile product development, including:


Mobile web (using standard and Responsive Design Techniques)


Native applications (for at least the iOS and Android platforms) and delivery to the Stores


Mobile Device Management frameworks


Mobile security best practices


Mobile authentication standards


Mobile analytics



Experience working with eCommerce platforms such as ATG, Hybris, or OLO is highly desired.


Mobile Technology Landscape (devices, trends, constraints).


Mobile\Web QA (Device Testing, including Application, Network, Performance).


Understanding of services architectures (REST, JSON, etc).


Experience implementing systems and processes, preferably in a restaurant or retail environment.


Extremely well organized (including good project management skills) and high attention to detail.


Excellent Time Management Skills.


Practical experience in building technical requirements.


Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to meet common objectives through teamwork.


Excellent verbal, written communications and presentation skills with an emphasis on being able to present technical topics in an easy to understand way for non-technical customers.


Strong partnering skills and a service leadership mindset are required.
