SummaryPerform a wide variety of customer service duties directly related to meal service and caf-- cleaning and sanitation. Other responsibilities include training, operating a cash register, cash handling, portioning, and rotation of food products.Key Responsibilities

  • Receives money into cash register and distributes change for cafeteria customers, reconciles cash at end of meal period.
  • Responsible for debit/credit card, pay by badge and Apple Pay transactions into POS.
  • Assists in training of new cashiers.
  • Friendly, quick, and efficient customer service for a diverse population of guests.
  • Items are made and portioned correctly per designated standards and following standardized recipes.
  • Knowledgeable of and can explain to customers, cafeteria discount, scale tare weight methods.
  • Able to speak to the ingredients in our food and answer questions surrounding allergens.
  • Upsells and promotes our food in a positive way.
  • Grab and go items are stocked per par levels and replenished as needed.
  • Equipment use consists of Turbo Chef, panini press and brewing of coffee.
  • Expiration dates are monitored and rotated according to the FIFO rule.
  • All work areas are cleaned per department standards using appropriate chemicals.
  • Additional cleaning projects are assigned. Projects include, but not limited to; equipment, tables, chairs, floors, and storage areas and are completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensures daily menu signs are displayed according to established menu.
  • Effectively communicates price questions and/or discrepancies between the POS and posted signage.
  • All responsibilities are completed in allotted timeframe per the designated workflow.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Reports any equipment that is damaged or not in properly working order.
  • Monitors refrigerator/freezer temperature throughout the shift and reports any immediate discrepancies.
  • Additional department training, organization, or network activities are completed per established objectives.

    • High School Graduate or GED preferred.Experience
      • One-year cash handling experience in a food service or retail setting.
      • One-year previous food service experience preferably in healthcare setting or equivalent.Licensure
        • ServSafe Food Handlers preferred.Skills
          • Demonstrates flexibility in work schedule and/or assignments to meet the needs of the job due to unforeseen interruption, crisis, or illness.
          • High level of customer service skills through communication and appropriate body language.
          • Ability to work a cash register and handle money.
          • Effective verbal, electronic and written communications skills using the English language.
          • Maintain variable work schedule to meet department needs (evenings, holidays, weekends).
          • Basic computer skills or ability to learn.
          • Time management & punctuality.Preferred Skills
            • Highly developed communications and interpersonal skills, working with diverse population.
            • Work independently, be self-directed and contribute as a member of a team.
            • Anticipates challenges and develops and implements strategies for addressing them.
            • High level of service delivery. Demonstrate initiative with ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and adapt to changing situations.
