ORTHO PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT/NURSE PRACTITIONER

POSITION SUMMARY

The Orthopedic Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) assists the orthopedic surgeons in diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal conditions. The PA or NP will practice under a supervising physician with responsibilities to include conducting patient evaluations, formulating treatment plans, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, assisting in surgeries, providing patient education, and managing post-operative care. They may also perform procedures like joint injections, aspirations, reductions and wound care. Excellent communication and clinical skills are essential for this role.

  EDUCATION:
  • Certification/degree from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program EXPERIENCE/SKILLSET:
    • Two years of Orthopaedic PA or NP experience preferred, will consider other surgical specialties
    • New graduates and non-surgical specialty experience will be considered LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION(S):
      • Eligible for licensure as a PA-C or NP by the State of Vermont
      • Eligible for certification as an PA or NP by a nationally recognized organization, which is recognized by the Vermont State Board of Medical Practice
      • Healthcare Provider CPR certification
      • Qualified to be credentialed by the BMH Medical Staff
      • DEA license
