POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Membership is responsible for all areas of
membership and providing strategic direction to the Membership
team. She/he supervises the membership recruitment, retention, and
support of girl and adult members. She/he is responsible for
insuring that all stakeholders of GSOFCT receive the customer care
and support needed in order to increase participant satisfaction.
Director of Membership assists with developing and implementing
strategies, for accessing and providing a Girl Scout Leadership
Experience (GLSE), The Director is responsible for building and
sustaining relationships within identified communities to enable
successful and sustainable GLSE opportunities for girls in those
communities. She/he is responsible for ensuring the Girl Scouts
opportunity is made accessible to all girl and adult members.
She/he is responsible for insuring that the Service Units work
effectively and receive the support and tools needed to perform
their roles. At all times, she/he must portray a positive image
that is representative of policies, procedures, and promotes
customer service to internal/external stakeholders.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Collaborates with Leadership team to develop council's annual Plan
of Achievement (POA) goals and annual budget.
Responsible for developing and achieving membership retention,
recruitment, and other POA goals in accordance with the council's
Plan of Achievement.
Implements and develops strategies to recruit, cultivate, and
retain girl members and adult volunteers, in conjunction with
Service Unit volunteers.
Coordinates efforts to increase visibility of Girl Scouts within
the community.
Supports team members in resolving conflict or issues with staff,
volunteers, girls, parents and external customers.
Embrace and enhance a culture that values diversity and ensures
that staff, girl and volunteer efforts reflect the council's
commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
Ensures business continuity or recovery measures are in place for
her/his area.
Management oversight of staff training programs. Identifies
training for staff to meet the evolving needs of internal/external
stakeholders.
Hire, train, supervise, mentor, and evaluate an effective team to
support the functions of the member experience department.
Works collaboratively with direct reports to identify specific
targets; develop strategies to project the number of contacts to be
made in order to meet the membership goal.
When appropriate, ensures fund development has accurate and timely
records and reporting of all grant membership experience program
functions.
Develops a strong and sustainable templated GSLE delivery model
which can be replicated throughout the state and can grow as the
program evolves.
Leads and develops a high-performing team to deliver a quality Girl
Scout Leadership experience to girls in underserved areas.
Develops and delivers on department recruitment goals for providing
the GSLE to targeted underserved areas.
Supports and promotes all aspects of Girl Scouting, by serving as a
community spokesperson for the movement and a voice on girl
issues.
Using demographic data, strategically creates marketing and
delivery of Girl Scout program to areas of underserved girls.
Promotes team building through effective communications, targeted
training and staff development opportunities.
Works with team to develop opportunities to transition girls from
outreach programs into other pathway opportunities.
CORE COMPETENCIES:
Ability to work with and manage a diverse group of staff and
volunteers.
Familiarity with Girl Scouts and the Girl Scouts programs.
Keep abreast of GSUSA membership initiatives and policies.
Project management and team building skills.
Develop, administer, and monitor department budget and grant
expenses.
Ability to develop and implement retention and recruitment
state-wide strategies.
Understanding demographic data to ensure inclusion of
under-represented and girls of color to achieve customer
satisfaction.
Ability to develop and sustain community partnerships.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Services or related field is
preferred or work experience.
5 years' experience in a supervisory capacity.
Strong attention to detail with strong communication skills.
Budget and financial planning expertise.
ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS and PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to work flexible schedule (evenings and weekends).
State-wide travel required.
Valid Connecticut driver's license.
Must carry and show proof of liability coverage of personal
vehicle.
Become a registered member and maintain membership in GSUSA.
Physical ability to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects up to
25 lbs.
Active participation in Product Sales initiatives.
Leadership ability to build teams.
Effective ongoing communication with various departments and
diverse audience as needed.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Remote and office environment as well as indoor/outdoor community
events.
