The Impact you will make:
Agios Pharmaceuticals is searching for a dynamic Director, Global Commercial Lead, Early Pipeline to join the Global Commercial Strategy, Access, and International Business team. The purpose of this team is to ensure that the innovative therapies which Agios brings to market deliver on significant unmet need for all of our stakeholders: patients, HCPs, payers, policymakers. This is a very exciting time to join our team, as we are preparing for additional indication launches for Pyrukynd and advancing our robust pipeline. The Director will leverage their deep understanding of global markets to inform the commercial strategy development and planning for Agios' pipeline products. This individual will ultimately be responsible for leading Target Product Profiles based on ascertaining unmet need and market dynamics, driving indication assessment and the commercialization aspects of program strategy, and identifying global priorities. This individual will also lead the commercial assessment for all Business Development initiatives at Agios. The position will collaborate closely with cross-functional leaders across the organization including research, development, program management, clinical, regulatory, commercial, corporate strategy, and business development. This individual will report to the VP, Global Commercial Strategy, Access, and International Business.
What you will do:


  • Drive commercial assessment and provide strategic guidance to program teams to inform key business decisions on early-stage clinical programs
  • Collaborate cross-functionally, particularly with Commercial Analytics and clinical, to conduct rigorous market assessments on key disease areas to inform preclinical and early clinical (Ph I, Ph II) strategic planning
  • Formulate early commercial strategy and approach for select pipeline programs and develop target product profiles and global commercial strategies
  • Understand and communicate requirements for reimbursement and differentiation to ensure successful commercialization of pipeline assets, in partnership with the US and Global Market Access leads
  • Identify gaps in internal understanding of target diseases and create detailed plans to address gaps through KOL engagement and primary market research
  • Lead the long term forecasting, via development of forecast assumptions for financial models, in partnership with Commercial Analytics
  • Lead the commercial assessment of all business development asset evaluations, partnering closely with the Business Development and Commercial Analytics teams

    What you bring:

    • Bachelor's degree in business or science related field
    • Minimum 8+ years of experience inclusive of market analytics, new product planning / early pipeline global commercial strategy experience, and global brand marketing
    • Desire to gain experience supporting Agios' later stage portfolio
    • Experience working cross-functionally, including collaboration with and influencing of program development team
    • Mix of strategic and analytics experiences
    • Solid understanding of healthcare ecosystem including unique commercial challenges
    • Exceptional ability to organize and simply communicate complex data, and an interest and ability to align others behind a strategy across cross-functional teams.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills, individual selected will be able to gain credibility, engender trust and influence all levels.
    • Agility to search and respond to drivers of changes, challenge the status quo, turn data into insights, insights into actions, mobilize resources, and learn with an open mind

      Work Location:
      Location Agnostic: Work location for this role is based on employee's individual preference. This role has the ability to be either remote in the US or hybrid in our Cambridge Headquarters. Hybrid schedules vary but are generally less than 3 days per week onsite and hybrid employees are expected to live within commutable distance to our Cambridge Headquarters. Remote employees work entirely from home except for attending Company sponsored events/ meetings. For employees who choose to work remotely, travel may be required for certain company events commensurate to the above job description; likely 1 / month.
