located in the greater Boston area. We were founded by industry
veterans in 2014, and since then have created The Flame in the
Flood and Drake Hollow. We're currently working on an ambitious and

Job DescriptionThe Molasses Flood is looking for a Senior AI
Engineer to help us innovate and evolve our AI technologies. The AI
Engineer will be responsible for driving and implementing AI
behaviors, as well as developing the core AI framework. The systems
you build will be fully transparent and usable by the artists and
designers you work with, and will serve the ultimate goal of
creating a great game and a great player experience.The person in
this role will report to the Lead Gameplay Engineer. This role may
be performed per our hybrid work model in the greater Boston area
(Tues/Thurs in our office and Mon/Wed/Fri work from home), with
relocation assistance available. This role could also be performed
remotely within the continental US and Canada, and according to US
East coast core hours. Benefits and salary range available vary by
country.RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, build out, maintain and optimize foundational AI
systems in a multiplayer environment, using C++ and
Blueprints.
- Build developer-friendly, easy-to-use, stable systems that
allow design teams to rapidly build & iterate on content.
- Ensure game performance standards across areas of system
ownership for all target platforms.
- Follow the code quality standards set by the team.
- Collaborate with everyone on the team and across disciplines in
achieving the overall vision of the game.
- Solicit and incorporate feedback from team members regarding
existing systems.
- Mentor more junior members of the engineering
team.QualificationsMinimum of 6 years game industry experience,
with at least 3 of those specializing in AI programming.Deep
knowledge of common AI data structures, algorithms and patterns
including behavior trees, blackboards, smart objects,
etc.Competence with C++ or a similar language.Working knowledge of
3d mathematics.The ability to communicate ideas clearly both
verbally and written, and work collaboratively with design, art and
production.Curiosity, kindness, and a positive and professional
can-do attitude.Candidates must have a US or Canadian work permit
or citizenship, depending on country location.NICE TO HAVES:
- Experience or familiarity with domain-specific scripting
language design and implementation.
- Experience or familiarity with offline tools and pipelines such
as World Machine or Houdini.
- UE4 or UE5 experience.
- Experience on a multiplayer title.The expected annual salary
range for this position is $160,000 to $200,000 USD, negotiable,
for US hires; and $128,000 - $207,000 CND for Canadian hires.
Salary offered will be based upon a number of factors, including
but not limited to: skill set, years and quality of experience, and
