A truly exciting opportunity for a talented Principal Electrical Engineer to join Servomex, the global expert in gas analysis and part of the FTSE 250 Spectris Group on the London Stock Exchange. Based out of our US Technical Center (USTC) in Woburn, MA, the successful candidate in this critical role will lead electrical design efforts for development of new technologies and products, including all components of the full analyzer system.


The Principal Electrical Engineer will also serve as subject matter expert on critical concepts and technologies and deliver digital and analog circuit design for new product introduction (NPI) and existing products.

About the Opportunity:


  • Lead electrical design efforts for development of new technologies and products, including all components of the full analyzer system
  • Develop and support Embedded Systems for a range of gas sensing products sold globally
  • Serve as subject matter expert on critical concepts and technologies
  • Prototype and test hardware for new and improved product designs
  • Design and deliver PCBA and system test fixtures, programs, and procedures
  • Provide project analysis and recommend necessary actions to achieve project deliverables to company standards and within established timelines
  • Provide technical support and instruction to the design engineering team members and Project Engineering team members on how to design systems, create drawings and meet project goals using standards, specifications, guidelines, and best practices
  • Advise and mentor other team members on engineering principles and product support efforts
  • Collaborate with teams within the group and / or company to harmonize efforts and resolve issues
  • Actively contribute to a supportive, ethical work environment


    About Your Talent:


    • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
    • Proven design & firmware experience with both digital and analog circuits
    • Embedded processor design for data acquisition and control
    • Experience working in a regulated environment such as ISO 9001, 13485 or FDA
    • Regulatory agency and certification experience (UL, CSA, CE, ROHS, IEC)
    • Experience with designing for EMI mitigation
    • Hands on experience with gas flow measurement equipment is preferred
    • Competent with design tools such as Altium and OrCAD
    • Adept at application of Engineering first principles and robust problem solving methodologies
    • Experience and confidence with DFx, DFMEA and other design tools
    • Good, proactive communication skills
    • Flexible, tolerant, multi-tasking attitude when working under pressure
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment while regularly providing imaginative and detailed technical solutions to complex problems
    • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
    • Experience with signal processing in high sensitivity gas analysis or analytical laboratory equipment
    • Development of low level embedded software in C and C++ is desirable
