You will join a team of mechanical, electrical and software engineers responsible for developing Medtronic's Robotic Assisted Surgery platform through commercial launch and production scale-up.

You will be involved in designing and maintaining test fixtures used to verify the functionality of the product. You may be called upon for cross-team hardware and software development or support. Software development will be in the context of user interface development and data logging. Hardware development will be in the context of electrical and mechanical fixture design and maintenance. Beyond these functions - you will contribute to reviewing requirements, running unit tests, hiring, mentoring junior engineers, helping to solve fixture issues, and collaborating with other groups.You will:

  • Work within the Medtronic-Covidien R&D engineering team to develop and support the launch and next-generation robotically assisted minimally invasive surgical platform.
  • Focus on test fixture hardware and software development.
  • Translate written requirements into a well-designed implementation.
  • Design, develop and implement industrial machinery and equipment, jigs, fixtures, and machine attachments required for R&D or experimental use, considering such factors as accessibility, economy, mobility, and performance requirements.
  • Design test fixtures using Pro-E/Creo design tools.
  • Create and maintain industrial style wiring diagrams using AutoCAD.
  • Create and maintain fixture software using Microsoft Visual Studio (C++ preferred).
  • Design/Wire/Troubleshoot test fixtures according to company and NFPA guidelines.
  • Design/Maintain test fixtures utilizing motion and control systems including but not limited to Galil, Delta Tau, LabVIEW, Allen Bradley, etc.Must Have: Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience
    Nice to Have
    • A BS in Electrical Engineering, or Equivalent Degree with appropriate experience.
    • Recent experience implementing test fixture GUIs and software.
    • Demonstrable coding skills in Microsoft Visual Studio C++ and/or LabVIEW.
    • Experience creating industrial wiring diagrams.
    • Working knowledge of Lockout Tagout procedures.
    • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues and determine a root cause.
    • Experience with Galil, Delta Tau, and Allen Bradley control systems.
    • A passion for learning new things and enjoys variety.
    • Excellent communication and teaming skills.
