OverviewThe Department of Environmental Conservation Rivers
Program is looking for an Environmental Engineer who can work
proficiently both within a team setting and independently to
recommend courses of actions to manage conflicts between dynamic
stream systems and human investments. Knowledge of construction
techniques ranging from the limitations of handwork to utilization
of heavy earthmoving equipment is essential to effective management
and regulation of instream construction activities, including flood
response and recovery work.The Engineer will be responsible for

FactorsDuties are largely performed in an office setting; however,
some field travel may be necessary for which private means of
transportation must be available. Fieldwork may involve exposure to
chemicals, gases, hazardous liquid and solid waste, and
construction sites during all weather conditions; and may involve
traversing rough terrain and bodies of water. Some work outside of
regular working hours, including attendance at public meetings, may
be required. Strong differences of opinion may be encountered on a
regular basis.Minimum QualificationsMaster's degree or higher in
environmental, sanitary, water resources, chemical, civil or air
pollution engineering AND four (4) years or more of professional
experience in environmental, sanitary, water resources, chemical,
civil or air pollution engineering.ORBachelor's degree in
environmental, sanitary, chemical, water resources, civil or
mechanical engineering AND six (6) years or more of professional
experience in environmental, sanitary, water resources, chemical,
civil or air pollution engineering.ORBachelor's degree in any field
of engineering AND seven (7) years of more of professional
experience in environmental, sanitary, water resources, chemical,
civil or air pollution engineering.OROne (1) year or more of
experience as an Environmental Engineer VI or two (2) years or more
as an Environmental Engineer V.ORRegistration as a Professional
Engineer in Vermont, by written examination, in the fields of
civil, civil/sanitary, environmental or sanitary engineering AND
six (6) years or more of professional experience in environmental,
sanitary, water resources, chemical, civil or air pollution
