Assistant or Associate Professor: Division of Population
Sciences-Dana Farber Cancer Institute
The Division of Population Sciences and the Department of Medical
Oncology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) and the
Department of Medicine, Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH) and
Harvard Medical School (HMS) invite applications for a full-time
appointment as an Assistant or Associate Professor of Medicine to
establish an independent research program in Population Sciences.
We welcome applicants conducting research in any of the Division's
four core centers and programs, including Cancer Genetics and
Prevention, Cancer Care Delivery and Outcomes, Community-Based
Research, or Translational Informatics and Computational Biology.
In addition, current or future focus on early cancer detection or
prevention is of interest, although not required for
consideration.
The Division of Population Sciences includes 43 interdisciplinary
faculty members working as researchers and clinicians throughout
Dana-Farber and other Harvard-affiliated institutions, including
the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health, Brigham and Women's
Hospital, and Boston Children's Hospital. Our group is highly
collaborative and includes investigators with expertise in cancer
prevention, community-based research, health equity, germline
genetics and cancer predisposition, computational biology,
biomarker discovery, artificial intelligence, patient-reported
outcomes, large database analysis, health economics, and
interventional clinical trials. In addition to
investigator-initiated research funded by federal agencies and
foundations, the Division hosts a T32 post-doctoral training
program, Training in Oncology Population Sciences, as well as a U54
Comprehensive Partnership for Cancer Disparities Research jointly
held by Dana-Farber and the University of Massachusetts Boston.
The successful candidate is expected to build an innovative
research program in Population Sciences. The candidate is expected
to have completed an MD and/or PhD with relevant post-doctoral
training. Applicants should have demonstrated early success
manifest as a strong track record of publication or receipt of
peer-reviewed funding. Applicants should have completed advanced
training in research methods and demonstrate motivation to harness
these skills in order to decrease the burden of cancer on
population health.
This dry-laboratory position will be based at the DFCI in the
Division of Population Sciences. The successful candidate will
build an independent research program that has synergy with
investigators focused on the full spectrum of Population Sciences
from across the DFCI, BWH, HMS and its affiliates. Candidates must
have an MD and/or a PhD and are expected to meet the criteria for
appointment to the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor at HMS.
Candidates are also expected to participate in teaching through
formal didactic coursework, supervision and mentorship of graduate
students and postdoctoral trainees at HMS.
